The story
The soft grey-sand field is the open ground, scattered with flecks of colour like pebbles and wildflowers after a rare rain. Stepped lines climb across it like dunes; green striped triangles are oases and palm groves. The red steps carry the colour of the Sahara's earth at sunset, and white starbursts are the desert sky at night.
The checkerboard squares are the patchwork of fields and villages, and the colourful frame closes the whole landscape like a window.

This carpet, The Whole Desert, was made entirely by hand and is entered in the Aeternus register in perpetuity.
